Adopt A Platoon Lake Placid 2017

Shannon Porter, a Local Woman, who has twin men Casey and Cody from Lake Placid who are serving our country in the Marines and Army! She reached out to the Youth Center to see if they could help organize and collect and pack donations for her Adopt a Platoon Program!

They began working with local businesses in order to help collect donations for the troops who would love to receive some necessities and goodies from the communities back home. The donation boxes could be found locally in Lake Placid at the following stores! Hannaford, Price Chopper, Family Dollar, and Kinney Drugs. Also at the American Legion! Items we collected and appreciated included, lip balm, bug spray, shaving items, deodorant, anything chocolate, socks, nail clippers, heat rash cream or powder, hydrocortisone cream, etc. these items are very expensive as we have been told at the base stores and would be really appreciated by the troops! A HUGE outpouring of support and donations were collected and packaged up and sent out to the platoons! Great job everyone, and a huge thank you to Shannon Porter for reaching out to the Youth Center to assist in your wonderful cause!
